Mohsen al Attar

As part of a wider panel on Government and Dissent, organised by the Amnesty branch at the University of Auckland, Mohsen al Attar speaks about the militarisation of campuses and the criminalisation of dissent. He links these developments to Henry Giroux’s soft and hard wars theory, as being waged by governments against young people in a variety of venues. Finally, drawing on the works of Martha Nussbaum he calls for greater critical engagement by students in both their learning and their lives.
